Historic Revival Fonts

Typography and Historic Curation

✓ Bucket list item achieved

For almost as long as I can remember, I've been a typography enthusiast. One of my personal goals has always been to create fonts. I've finally done that , starting with two basic, limited historic revival fonts:

  1. Postcardist 1909

  2. Fleur Nouveau Gothic 1909

And yes, I do believe there is space for professional creatives yet, even with generative AI... Those highly skilled at #BrandStrategy, especially in the corporate/enterprise level, get it. 😉

Why historic revival projects matter

As #ArtificialIntelligence starts to consume and distort history, I think many of us have been more thoughtful about our use of #AI, and preservation and education of things that this new found convenience has obscured and dominated. These two revival fonts are part of my conscious effort, commercially and personally, to keep our artistic #HumanHeritage alive. In that spirit, these fonts are offered under #copyleft terms, using the SIL Open Font License (OFL).

If you're also a typography enthusiast, I hope you enjoy these! ☺️ Up next: blending my love of legal and art, I'll be looking at creating some historic revival fonts from legal documents and court filings. There are some fascinating docs to pull inpso from, from as far back as the 1500s!
